Decoy- (Alchemy Box # 37), 2012
knot, plinth, rope
knot ca. 43 (h) x 55 x 55 cm, plinth 90 (h) x 40 x 40 cm
A bespoke bell ringers rope protrudes from a hole in a
plinth as if cut and having fallen from the ceiling above.
Two miniature rope fenders - similar those used to
protect boats whilst mooring - are looped around the
rope and sit on top of the plinth. One is knotted in a
pattern referred to as a 'Turk's head', the other a 'monkey
fist'. Placed beside the plinth is another oversized rope
fender also in a Turk's head knot. A transferred text has
been applied to the side of the plinth describing a variety
of categorised objects.
