This sculpture consists of an empty pedestal in the shape of a competition pedestal. The reference to this particular object emphasizes the importance of pedestals in general. On one hand it reflects on their prominent role in art and art history and on the other it is a symbol of competition in general. The work suggests that the pedestal is just as, if not even more, important than the objects or subjects placed on it.
