Anya Gallaccio’s Untitled ‘Snow’ from 2013 could be described as a performative piece. During the pre-opening of the exhibition Chasing Rainbows, with works by Antonis Pittas, Sarah van Sonsbeeck and Gallaccio herself, the artist burnt two stacks of paper whilst it was snowing, exhibiting on paper a struggle between the elements of snow and fire, heat and cold.
The resulting stacks of paper are both objects as memories of the performance that took place. In their current form, the stacks of paper recall the different shapes of a landscape.
