A Screen print comprised of 14 annotated illustrations reproduced from the 1968 HMSO publication ‘Chester: A Study in Conservation.’ The review and subsequent report was commissioned by Chester City Council to define the necessity of historical conservation during a period of increased urban growth and was intended to “discover how to reconcile our old towns with the twentieth century without knocking them down”. The illustrations are presented as a cluster diagram and depict some of the unique architectural characteristics of the artist’s hometown. The composition of the diagram relates to the situation of each place in the city, the scale of each illustration is proportional to the time the artist spent at each location up to no good.
