Sarah van Sonsbeeck takes part in the group exhibition The Body Keeps the Score, that focusses on intergenerational trauma. It takes as a starting point the body as a carrier of traces of former generations. Scientific research has shown that mothers do not only pass on physical DNA to their children, but traumas as well. Van Sonsbeeck's Shelter 7 (2017) will be on view, a work reflecting on the material used to keep migrants protected from the cold, yet also abstracts them into anonymous entities in a similar way that politics need to abstract them to decide over their fate.
